What is blue plastic piece for?

I received a little blue plastic thing in the parts bag.  What is it and what is it for?

Spacer gauge to properly space the flipper pawl away from the bottom of the nylon bushing the flipper shaft rides in. So the pawl isn't tight to the nylon bushing and binds the flipper movement.

A flipper spacing tool you use it to set the height of the flipper bat. Just slip the notched side between the playfield and the underside of the flipper bat

Is that something I should check out of the box?  I have never worked on a machine before and all the language is new.
