Hi LTG.  I have replaced the coil and the issue still occurs.  It's intermittent and definitely related to vibration.  Since I've tried swapping solenoid boards and I've tried a new coil, my only thought at this point is that it must be a bad connection between the solenoid board and the larger board.  Is there a good way to test that or any trick to make sure it stays connected securely?  Are there any other things that could be causing the issue?

Thanks LTG, very helpful.  I have swapped solenoid boards and verified the issue still happens.  So it seems like it's likely the coil.  I have never fixed a coil where the hold windings are broken.  Is my best option to get a replacement coil at this point?

I'm having an issue with my MMR LE where the tower diverter will drop down to allow the ball to travel up to the tower, but sometimes it won't stay down.  It appears to be related to vibration because the diverter will pop back when the ball enters the pop bumpers or during multi ball when many solenoids are firing.  I've looked for a bad connection on the coil lugs.  All appears ok there but I re-soldered the joints just to make sure, but the problem persists.  I've read posts explaining this type of issue can be caused by a bad connection on the 10 pin connector between the solenoid driver board and the larger board.  I've pulled the solenoid board and reseated it, but this didn't clear up the issue either.  I've also checked for a bad joint on the surface mount components on the solenoid board under a magnifying glass but couldn't see any issues.  Really scratching my head on this one and hoping someone can offer some advice or maybe a better way to verify what's causing it.

I have some more information on this.  There is a red light next to the "watchdog" connector on the controller board in the backbox.  I wasn't sure if this was right or wrong, but I unplugged the watchdog and plugged it back in this afternoon.  When I turned the game back on it started up without error.  I played a few games and everything was fine.  I went to play the game tonight and now I get the error message again about not being able to communicate with the playfield.  I tried re-seating the watchdog connection again but that didn't work.  I also tried running a different ethernet cable thinking maybe I just had a bad cable but that didn't work either.  Does this mean the board in the backbox is just going bad and it was a coincidence that re-seating the watchdog connection fixed it temporarily?  I've attached a picture of the board so you can see where the red light is on.

I received my game a couple of weeks ago.  It has been working fine until today.  I'm now getting the message "Cannot communicate with playfield. Please check all connections".  I saw another post about this here: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login.  I read Lloyd's suggestion to check the blue cable.  I have unplugged the blue cable and plugged it back in, everything seems fine.  It sounds like other people with this problem needed a new board?  Is there something else I can try?  It seems odd that things would work fine for a couple of weeks and suddenly fail.  I played it last night and it was ok, got the error message first thing when I turned it on today.  Any ideas?

Thanks guys, I got to the bottom of it.  It was the cabinet switch.  I had checked it several times but hadn't noticed the second contact underneath because it's kind thin and covered by the top one - I thought the second contact was the bracket it was mounted on.  So it was just that it was stuck closed because it was bent a little.  Stupid, I know.

Thanks Lloyd, I'm having a hard time finding where they plug into the board under the playfield.  As far as I can tell they only run to the controller board in the back box.  Like I said, when I disconnect the coindoor harness from the controller board in the back box then the error goes away as expected.  I've searched the board under the playfield and the schematics for switch 21 (the slam tilt switch that is giving me the error) and I can't find it.  The wires from the switch seem to run directly to the backbox unless I'm missing something, which is totally possible since I'm definitely not a pinball tech.  In the manual on the switch table, it says "Cabinet switches are read by controller board".  Does this mean that the slam tilt switch only runs directly to the controller board and isn't connected to the board under the playfield?  Perhaps this is a difference from the original MM?

I actually had checked both of those before I posted the message.  They are both open and neither one works when I do the switch edges test.

Just received my machine today.  I got it all set up but can't play because I'm getting an error message that the "slam tilt switch is stuck closed".  I believe this is one of the leaf switches by the coin door, correct?  If that is the case, neither one seems to be stuck in the closed position.  If I disconnect the coin door harness in the back box the error goes away as expected.  I've attached a picture of the coin door harness because it's got one spot where there's no wire connected.  I wasn't sure if that's the way it's supposed to be or not.  Any help on how I could fix this would be greatly appreciated.
