I adjusted ( bent ) my lane guide in place. Big screw driver, big hammer. A little at a time, so you don't mark the stainless steel guide.

I have read of people grinding or cutting some of the VUK edge, it wouldn't take much. Maybe half an inch.

Has anyone figured out a fix?

I noticed on my game the stainless steel ball guide running from the left side, back around the castle, over to the right side. Was kind of flat along the left side. Balls would hit it and deflect over to the moat VUK. ( same as on my MM when it came out ) I gently bent that ball guide so it was a little curved, and end of problem.

If you play a bunch of games the error will clear itself. After the balls goes by the gate it isn't always triggering the next switch on the playfield, so the game thinks the gate is stuck closed. You can adjust the switch if need be so the ball hits it better.

Gates and draw bridge are low power so they work with the door open.

Please check for loose connectors below the playfield in that area. Moat switch and the optos.

Then check them all in Switch Edge Test, see if they work or not, or are flaky.

If problem persists please open a ticket on the support desk. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Thank you.

I alerted your ticket to Ron to get you a new switch.

The Trolls - leaf blade switches. You'd have to adjust them if you'd like them more sensitive. Move the rear leaf blade closer to the troll face. Careful so you don't make it too sensitive and vibration sets it off.

They aren't doing anything wrong. You run into this on many Williams pins.

Secure the cable under the validator better helps. Many ops simply cut a piece out of the front top of the coin box.

Please go to chicago-gaming.com , on the left side of the home page under the support stuff. Please open a ticket so CGC can get you what you need.

Thank you,
Lloyd

First, please go into the CGC adjustments and try lowering the coil strength, or raising it. To get into the CGC stuff, hold the escape button down 5 seconds or so and the game will go into them.

If that doesn't do it, the metal flap on the ball trough that diverts the ball to the shooter lane may need to be bent out a little.

This will help -  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

While for the WOZ pinball, same basic ball trough, same basic issue if the ball hits the flap and goes back down.

The troll will hit the bottom of the wireform. Same on the Williams one. You can lessen but not eliminate it.

1- Result of ball not getting into the tower. 2- Switch that lets the game know the right troll is up or down isn't working because of troll assembly stays down.
1, 2, 3, &4 - Please check that the wires to the coils are on tight. And under the playfield mounted to the huge board are three blue boards with transistors and fuses. By each fuse is a LED that lets you know if the fuse is good or not. Please check connectors to these blue boards that they are on tight, and that all your fuses are good on those boards.
5 - You can go into the CGC programming by holding the Escape diagnostic button down, after 5 seconds or so the CGC screens come up. Step through them and find the one for coil settings - make the ball trough kicker weaker first, then stronger, see if you can get it working better.

I posted this on your ticket.

 Thank you, Lloyd

In tests did you have the high power interlock switch pulled out so you had high power to coils ?

On the original the left troll often hits the wireform above it. You can gently bend the wireform up a bit.

I'd loosen the ramp so you can lift the flap end of it, then gently bend the flap. tighten the ramp back down.

The Williams programming usually would pop up an error if a switch isn't hit in ten games or 30 balls.

The gate error would pop up sooner.

As Rick said, doesn't always mean something is wrong.

Play some games and it go away on it's own.

Castle gate errors are caused when the gate is up, a ball goes by, and the switch after it gets missed.

There is a left and right gate. When you launch a ball into play it goes up above the lanes into the pop bumper and hits the closed left gate then bounces into the closed right gate.

Going into switch edge test won't erase this error.

Just play some games and it will right itself.

You can go into coil tests and check if the left or right gate lift. Since your game is new, I'm pretty sure the gates themselves are fine.

You might need to remove the troll to do this. One hex head screw secures it to the plunger shaft. One connector. Then lift up and out the top of the playfield, wiggle and lean to get it through the hole in the playfield. It is hard to hold the troll up and try and adjust when in the game. It can be done if you are real handy.

Now the Troll face is on the front blade of a leaf blade switch. You'd need to bend the leaf behind it that it hits a little closer to the leaf blade the troll face is on.
