Instead of me saying how much I would love to see this available...let me pose some questions.
Is there any way we D&D pin owners can crowd fund reproduction cab art into existence? What if we were to pay for the vector work and turn it over to you? Helped work with WotC to clear copyright issues? I know there are several folks who would rally together to replace their now faded/chipped artwork. Especially considering the art appeal of the cab.
I guess I'm just wondering if there is anything us D&D pin lovers can do to get the dice rolling?
Can't blame a guy for trying. Let me know if you would be open to something like this!
-
Good news is that we have the original artwork films (to be verified that ALL the films are there), which would make it reasonably affordable to do this. There would be a cost to doing this as this would not be generally in our list of games to make cabinet decals for, but if we verify that we have the films and they are in good shape, then the cost and time go way down.

Sent you a PM Rick. Thanks for the quick response. This is beyond great news. ;D

Well, I would like to second a call for cabinet decals. This would be a win for the pinball community. D&D is one of the last actual Bally games. Any chance to bring some of these bad boys back to life after 30 years of cabinet fade and UV damage would be great.
-
I'd love to see new cabinet art to purchase for my D&D!! Topper, too!!
-
I would love to get a set or two of these as well! Let's make this happen!
-
I would be in for a set of these decals - assuming that the topper art is also included! :)
-
Can someone get us dimensions (side, front, backbox side) ... just want to make sure we have the right dimensions on the films, etc. ? Also, the door hole in the front would be great as well.
lmk,
rick
-
Well......(deep inhale like Ace Ventura)
The backbox has the following dimensions keeping in mind it's wider at the top then the bottom.
22" tall x 10" top - 7 5/8" bottom also point in out this would be image size on the cab and the minimum image size for print.
Cabinet dimensions would/should come out to 25" tall x 49 3/4" long taking into account the banana cabinet (lots of waste here)
Front is 15 7/8" tall x 22" wide. The opening is 9 15/16" tall x 12 3/8" wide
TOPPER 13" tall x 9 3/8" at the widest point near the top (lots of waste on this one too).
My cabinet is pretty much sitting empty right now waiting for me to quit being lazy. Any more dimensions or anything you need to get this thing move, let me know.

Nice Scott...Thanks! 8)

I would be in for a full cab art reproduction, as well. Mine was in pretty rough shape when I bought it and the art is actually peeling off.
-
I have 2 more people who need cab art I'm trying to get to post here. One a machine I sold a while back and one a machine with no art.
-
Thanks for the dimensions ... that will help to insure that we have correct sizing as sizing sometimes is hard to deduce from the films ...

I am in for this as well. I might not need a whole set, but definitely the front. On second thought, maybe a whole set. Keep us posted!
-
I as well would be all four getting a set of cabinet art. I rescued my machine from the basement of some extended family and while, well loved would be a kind way to put it, scratch and dented is more closer to the truth. I'm working the small issues with playfield plastics and worn bumpers now, but I would be over joyed to get the cabinet itself looking as well as the rest of the game. I know there's a lot of folks that find this game to be a moderately pin at best, but I think the artwork is par-none. Fantastic game and wonderful theme. If a production line of cabinet art gets made sign me up. Wallet is open!

Hey Rick,
With you wanting to know sizes...does that confirm availability of films? You didn't specifically say, so thought I would clarify.
::EDIT::
I removed my request for a silkscreen run. After reading your explanation of NextGen 2+ I think it might fit the bill just fine. For those interested in reading Rick's explanation of the differences:
http://www.planetarypinball.com/forum/index.php/topic,434.msg3072.html#new
One tiny question, The original artwork appears to have started with a low sheen black vinyl. When the black silkscreening occurred it is much more glossy and outlines the art nicely. This is especially noticeable on the head/topper. Would this be possible to simulate with the NextGen2+process by printing gloss over the film black?
The process sounds awesome. Using gloss to simulate silkscreen is a very cool technique.

Yep. I'm one of those guys. And I'd be in for the art package, assuming it's not astronomically priced.
Thanks!
(special thanks to Scott for rocking, and clueing me into this thread's existence)

Any more word on this or are we just waiting and hoping?
-
I haven't heard anything on my end, but I imagine Rick is a busy guy. I did hear back from some other interested folks who haven't taken the time to post here...yet.
Hopefully this happens! Any hope you can throw our way Rick? Films check out?
-
Hi Rick, any news?
-
My cabinet art work is in good condition, what I need is a set of the play field decals. Can anyone help me with them?
-
Hi Folks,
A minor update. I called over to Planetary and briefly spoke with Rick a couple of weeks ago. He said they are working on a potential run...but have many other projects in the queue. It sounded as if some films were found, but others were going to have to be recreated/touched up to some degree.
He stressed the need to color match (he doesn't want it done incorrectly) and I offered up my willingness to assist. I will work with Tallon (Scott) as well to match as accurately as possible. I provided my info to Planetary, but I have not heard back or received anything additional at this time.
As I have more info, I will let you all know. I did request potentially moving this thread to (or starting a new one in) the "In Progress" sub-forum...if Rick sees fit. Cross those fingers!

Have not heard anything in a while so I thought a shout out might be in order. Any news Rick?
MGC is coming and I sure would love to bring my girl in a brand new dress :)
-
Currently depopulating my playfield to give her a facelift. Just popping in to see if anything has come of the cabinet art. This pin is a labor of love and I am sure I am not the only one still excited about giving his cabinet a beautiful and deserved makeover... If only it was made of better material, repairs wouldn't be such a chore.
-
Bump to see if there has ever been any progress on this?
-
I'm still in for s set or 2. I have 3 machines right now and 2 of them need re-decal in the worst way. Would've ice to have it done for MGC. hint hint 😀
-
Bumping this for interest. I would be interested in at least 1-2 sets at this point.
-
Additional thought on this bump - I think it would be cool to have some inside blade-type artwork that matched the blue brick look of the backpanel/outside cabinet. If you have the artwork already, you could prob just cut it from the same as the cabinet by clipping an outline from below the "Dungeons & Dragons" logo.

Rick,
I have a nice D&D in my collection.
I am willing to do the Artwork for a matching "Front" Decal which was never part of the
actual production ( it's solid black paint ), but would look so much better with a matching front decal.....
I also have all the Accurate PMS Colors for this set.....
