Title: PPS- looking for update on CGC's response to the insert issues.
Post by: TaylorVA on February 07, 2016, 06:38:19 PM
Please let us know what CGC is doing about this issue. They should certainly have enough info at this point to make a comment. As a person waiting on one I need to know that this issue will be resolved on current and future builds.  Thanks.

I think it's appropriate for CGC to tell people what the response on this topic. We are working with them and expect some communication this week.

Thank you. My game has yet to ship and I want to know CGC's response so that I know what to do about my order.

I spoke with CGC today and they are taking steps to improve the opacity on games yet to be built. This includes some changes in screening process as well as adding the issue to QC for themselves and Stern.

No solutions for already built games then ?

Great! Happy for the owners of new correctly printed playfields. Now, looking forward to CGC's response to those of us with the transparent text.

Sorry I can't speak to what they are planning on doing for current owners. It sounded like they were going to approach it by a case by case basis and I don't want to mislead anyone by misquoting what was said. I called specifically to find out what they were going to do about resolving the issue with games yet to be built.

I would expect a fully populated playfield swap.  I'm sure I'm not the only one that wouldn't be able to swap a full playfield of ramps/mechs etc...
They f'd up, do the right thing.  Time for customer service to shine if they expect to keep selling games in the future.

Everyone can mess up, thats not the problem in my world. s**t happens. :(

Even I do misses sometimes, but I surely fix them without any hesitation or complications.

The greatness of a company comes when you take responsibility to your mess and do what you can to fix it.

If they fix the future ones and don't repair ours, i'm gonna be even more pissed.
At this point, I really regret not waiting for the standard.

Without any hesitation, I would exchange the shaker and plywood bottom for opaque insert text, if I could.

I'd be fine with either a populated playfield swap and a return of my current one. Or a unpopulated PF to have and swap it over down the road. Both of these fixes are acceptable. Personally I think that a spare properly printed PF would be cheaper on CGC and still address the issue 100% I want to see CGC do well on these remakes and for them to find it profitable enough to keep doing other games in the future at the same time taking good care of their customers with warranty issues

Swapping an unpopulated playfield is a s**t ton of work, and something I'm not comfortable doing.  For $8k, I don't think I should have to either.

Not to mention the cost if you inadvertently screw it up.

If, as I do, have the transparent decals, do we have to open a ticket or do they know the games which are affected?
I am just waiting on a response to the problem before I make a move but is it safer to register the issue?
Thanks

Was this an issue on all games or just a recent batch?  I never really paid attention to that detail on my game, I'll take a look when I get home from work.

I have been told it is a small fraction of some of the later batch (500-750), so various scattered in those. Most recently Stern said they pulled 1 or 2 out of the 30+ on the line. They are all now being fully inspected before the playfields go on the line.

Sounds good Rick.  I'll look at mine when I get home and if necessary open a ticket through the CGC system, if necessary.  I think I would have seen this by now if it is an issue........ :)

I have been told by CGC that my inserts are fine although IMO they are not, I hope Rick or LLoyd can help me with this as my ticket has been closed :(

Rather than copy and paste the whole post here I will link to it, I hope that's OK https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/early-production-run-mmr-owners-help-needed/page/5#post-2969406 (https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/early-production-run-mmr-owners-help-needed/page/5#post-2969406)

So we now have a better idea of what CGC is going to do to address this issue, turn down the LEDs and tell people their games are fine.

That's what they told me too.

I don't know why you feel the need to trash talk me on the forums what the hell did I do to you? I told you on PS that I got the same answer you did and you been twisting things up all day. What proof do you have other than your assumptions of what was said. You don't.... You're just butt hurt and looking to take it out on someone. Have fun with your temper tantrum.

Well I'm glad someone is happy but to be honest, dimming the LED's is not a fix for me and that will spoil the game, I like the LED's as they are.
If they are aware of a manufacturing defect then the warranty should cover that as the game is sold free from manufacturing defects.
We waited 2 years for this, put up with all the missed deadlines and stuck with it, we will pay for the colour DMD etc etc but if a batch of games is different from the others, I want mine like the others please. I wouldn't want a £200,000 Bentley with a bad paint job and told just take it out at night you won't see it so bad!
I for one would like a proper fix or compensation, but I paid my money and I would like the game as it is supposed to be.

MMR# 379 just checked mine over this morning.......didn't see any issues with inserts. Looked fine to me.

I just set up my new MMR #635 and the inserts cannot be read when the machine is on.  I compared my machine to a friends with an earlier production date and they are dramatically different.  My inserts are essentially invisible when the machine is on.  I also did not receive a registration card so I've requested the card and opened a ticket for the inserts.
