How to reset Grand Champion score?

I want to reset my Grand Champion score that I got with the game set up too easy, I now have it at default, I have done the high score reset but that leaves the GC. Do I just remove the battery for awhile? I would have thought that all the scores and settings would be saved to an EPROM these days and would not need a battery? Will removing the battery reset my play count and other stats? I would prefer to keep them.

Also will the color DMD and bug fix update reset everything including the Grand Champion score? if so I might as well wait until then as it can't be too far off now.

Easiest would be do a factory reset in Utilities. You'll lose and adjustments you made or scores, etc.

No idea if updates will alter scores or not.
