B. Check magnet for steel fi lings. One screw removes the magnet.

of slugs or spurious coins. Improper or misadjustment of the de-
flector or separator can result in rejection of genuine dimes. Fo l-
low the procedure below for proper setting of your rejector.
1. Place rejector on level table with rear of unit facing you.
2. Using a screwdriver, loosen the deflector and separator adjust-
ment screws and move both parts to the right.
3. Insert a number of dimes (use both old and new coins) and ob-
serve that some will be rejected by the separator.
4. Now loosen separator adjustment screw and move separator
slightly to the left. Insert dimes and observe if they are accep-
ted or rejected.
Repeat the above until all genuine dimes are
accepted.
5. Move deflector to left and insert dimes. You will notice that
coins are rejected.
6. Gradua lly move deflector to right until all genuine dimes are
accepted.
7. After completing adjustments , be sure to tighten adjustment
screws.
7. If dimes lodge during the test:
A. If dimes lodge in the cradle, remove the cradle and clean the cradle
pin and bushing . If they still lodge, install a new cradle.
B. If dimes lodge under the magnet , check for stee l filings. Also, check
magnet for clearance.
A new dime shou ld pass freely between the
magnet and the mainplate. If it does not, pry the magnet up slightly.
C. If dimes lodge any other place in the rejector, it will be necessary
to observe close ly to see just what is holding the coin. It will prob-
ably be a protruding screw, a bent coverplate, a bent coin or some
foreign material.
In the event that the foregoing does not solve your difficulty , we suggest that the re-
jector be sent to the nearest National Rejectors Branch Office for repair.
